How To Be Hopeful- Episode 2 -"Evelyn Community Store"
Tuesday Apr 14, 2020
Tuesday Apr 14, 2020
Hello and welcome to my new podcast series. How To Be Hopeful is a non fiction podcast about why hope is important, and how to find and nurture hope particularly in difficult times. Its about finding hope for ourselves, our communities and the world, and about exploring all the ways we can do this.
This second episode was recorded in Deptford, SE London, during the COVID 19 lock down and includes an interview with Dawn Atkinson who co-runs the Evelyn Community Store a resident-led membership organisation which works with national charity FareShare. Good quality surplus food is collected from supermarkets and redistributed it to the store and other community groups.
The series is about how appreciation and gratitude can make us feel happier. It's about making sure we hold on to what we gained and learned from this experience, and about the opportunity we have to create a better world once it is over.
My book "How To Be Hopeful" published by Elliot and Thompson is due out September 2020. This podcast series is a chance for me to chat again to some of the people who I interviewed for the book, as well as some people who I didn't have the chance to. I hope you enjoy it.
More soon!

In this podcast we will feature two new stories a week from two of the co-founders of ARE YOU SITTING COMFORTABLY? Bernadette Russell and Gareth Brierley.

Wednesday Jun 14, 2017
Two days after the 2017 U.K general election, we asked people to tell us what they want, as part of our project "Sign of the Times"
They each listed ten things, chose their favourite, then made a placard of that one. The placards and lists went on public display at Toynbee Studios in Shoreditch. This podcast include every single "want" written down that day. To see more images of the results, go here
